• Snowmobiling
Deerhurst is the ideal starting and stopping point for over 2,000 km of beautiful, groomed snowmobile trails in Muskoka region alone. Our resort is located right on the Trans Ontario Provincial ("TOP") trail system which connects the entire province. Locked overnight sled parking, premium fuel, trail maps and permits are all available right at the resort's Winter Sports Shop.
• Guided SnowmobileTours
Don't have your own machine? Haliburton Sled Rentals offers guided 90 minute snowmobile tours from Deerhurst Resort, as well as half day, full day and overnight sled rentals. Outerwear rentals are available if needed (snowmobile suits, mitts and boots).
(All snowmobile operators must be 18-years of age and older, and possess a full class G driver's licence. A machine deposit is required for all sled rentals.)
• Winter Hummer Tours
Experience the world's most capable vehicle specially outfitted for snow travel, while traversing seemingly impossible terrain.
• Cross Country Skiing
Approximately 13 km of double-track set trails wind throughout the challenging, wooded terrain that transforms the Deerhurst Highlands golf course into a skier's paradise. For even more variety, there are excellent ski trails maintained at nearby Arrowhead Provincial Park and Algonquin Provincial Park. Cross-country equipment available for rent; Deerhurst trails are complimentary.
• Snowshoeing
Take in the adventure of a winter hike in the wilderness with easy to use modern snowshoes. Deerhurst trails are complimentary; snowshow rentals are available.
• Outdoor Ice Skating, Hockey and Snow-Tubing
Skates, hockey sticks and broomball equipment are available for guests, or bring your own. One of the most popular spots for families during the winter is the tubing hill, located at the Lakeside 10th tee. Use of snow-tubes is complimentary for guests. Skate rentals available.
• Horse-Drawn Sleigh and Cutter Rides
Cuddle up for a cosy ride, with the rhythm of the horses rocking you back to an era gone by. Rides are 30 minutes. Available daily except Wednesdays.
• Downhill Skiing/Snowboarding
Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area, located next door to Deerhurst Resort, takes pride in its friendly atmosphere and short line-ups. With twelve slopes, three quad chair lifts, and a handle bar tow, Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area is an ideal location for families to ski, and for those who want to learn. And, Deerhurst guests enjoy discounted rates off of regularly priced lift ticket vouchers at The Winter Sports Shop.
• Dog-sledding
Experience the Arctic thrill of dog-sledding with a Snow Paws Adventure. It's a winter adventure not to be missed! Ask about our night-rides for an unforgettable experience. Experienced cross-country skiers can also try the unique sport of "ski-joring" which is skiing with a dog team!
Please note: the dogs take Mondays & Tuesdays off for a well earned rest.
