Three Words To Describe Your Deerhurst Stay:

Vanessa and her family are returning guests to Deerhurst and always have a blast on their family vacations. As a family of five with three young children, the facilities and resort activities that Deerhurst offers are key to keeping everyone occupied and happy. Read on below for Vanessa’s blog all about their March Break stay.

It’s such an amazing thing to experience travel through the eyes of a child, everything is magical, everything is new and they are always so excited!

Our family visited Deerhurst Resort in 2019 over the March Break and it was such a wonderful experience, that we were so excited to visit again! The Resort really caters to families and made us feel so at home.

Lakeside Lodge

We stayed in the Lakeside Lodge, which is Deerhursts’ newest accommodation right on the water. We stayed in one of the two-bedroom suites, which was the perfect size for our family. Our suite had a gorgeous view of the landscape and overlooked the water. The suite had a full-sized kitchen, dining space and living room as well as two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There was plenty of space for our family to unwind, relax and enjoy some downtime together.

Dining

There are [four] on-site restaurants at the resort; The Maple Pub & Patio, Eclipse Restaurant & Terrace, [Antler Steakhouse] and Compass Grill & Lounge. We had our first dinner after checking in at the Maple Pub, this was the perfect spot for a casual dinner and was open all week for lunch as well. We ate breakfast each morning and one of our dinners at Eclipse, this restaurant has spectacular views of the grounds and surrounding areas. Eclipse offers both a buffet and a la carte options for breakfast and a full dinner menu with plenty of options for both kids and adults. Our favourite dining experience was at Compass Grill & Lounge, we ate dinner there one of the nights and had a variety of delicious share platters. One of the highlights for our family was the live music at Compass, our kids loved this!

Activities

One of the great things about visiting Deerhurst over the March Break is that there is always something to do, no matter what kind of weather you are having. The resort really does cater to families (especially this week) and sets up so many different indoor and outdoor activities. These are just a few of the things we did during our stay.

Our first day at the resort was freezing outside, so we decided to plan a few indoor activities. We went to the pool, the Treehouse, the Arcade and the Fun Zone all in one day! The kids loved the pool and the Fun Zone the most. The Treehouse is a climbing indoor playground suited for toddlers to age ten (so perfect for our kids at this age). The Fun Zone is something that the resort sets up during the week of March Break, another indoor play-space with games, maze, building blocks and endless fun!

The resort offers so many different seasonal outdoor activities. All of our kids have started skating now, so we did the skating rink as a family, which was beautiful as the rink overlooks the whole resort. We also did some of the walking trails during our visit. Muskoka is such a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors, no matter what season it is!

We absolutely loved visiting Deerhurst again for the March Break and would bring our family here again for sure!
