The Blueberry Maple Cocktail – A Feature in LCBO’s Summer 2017 More Food & Drink
This summer sipper is the perfect accompaniment to lake views, a Muskoka chair and some good company – what else do you really need?
In the latest issue of LCBO’s More Food & Drink Deerhurst Resort’s Executive Chef, David Bakker shares his recipe for the perfect blueberry-flavoured cocktail – and being it’s summertime there is no better way to take advantage of all the fresh Ontario fruit!
“Fresh fruit is such an easy ingredient to incorporate into cocktails – it adds flavour, colour and makes it a little more fun,” says Executive Chef, David Bakker.
Mixing sweet and sour, Chef David Bakker uses maple syrup produced right here in Muskoka (harvested at the resort to be exact!) and a hint of lime juice to add balance.
“The maple adds just a touch of sweetness, but doesn’t overwhelm it,” says Executive Chef, David Bakker.
What you need:
- 11/2 oz Stolichnaya Blueberi Vodka
- 1 tsp (5mL) maple syrup
- 1 tsp (5mL) freshly squeezed lime juice
- A splash of soda
- Fresh Ontario blueberries for garnish
Add Blueberi Vodka, maple syrup and lime juice to a shaker half-filled with ice. Shake well. Pour into Masaon jar (or a cocktail class). Add a splash of soda and garnish with a few blueberries.
Makes 1 drink.
